anna mcdonald’s senior session

Anna goes to Westlake HS.  She chose The Urban session which was wise because it was so hot outside.  So instead of melting out there we did a bit in the studio and then when it cooled down to just a shade under 100 we ventured out.  Actually it wasn’t that bad and Anna was awesome.  She described herself as being kind of quiet and laid back…i can see that, but she forgot to tell me that she has a great smile and there is a hint of an adventurous soul in there…I don’t know…I can just see it.  Congrats on your senior year Anna – I hope it is everything you want it to be.

rachel yen’s senior portraits

Rachel is one or our amazing senior reps.  She wanted to get her senior portraits done before school started and I was more than happy to oblige.  We chose to do the portraits at a local park at around 8 in the morning.  It can be hard to mentally focus for me at 8 in the morning, but things just kind of clicked that morning.  The morning light was amazing and Rachel was so easy to work with.  Here we go.

Alaska The Great Land

Much much more to say about our trip to Alaska.  I wish I could describe it in just one word, but I don’t think the word exists.  This is one shot I just randomly grabbed out of the stack.  This is in Seward while we were cruising around the Kenai Fjords National Park.

Jake’s Senior portraits

I love shooting senior portraits.  I love the one on one direction.  And there is something about high school seniors that I can relate to…probably because I don’t act my age sometimes, but that is besides the point.  Guys in particular are known for not wanting to have their photos taken…I think that they have heard too many horror stories about stupid poses (cock your head just a little bit…a little more…just a little more)…I remember those days.  And I think Jake was a little weary when he first came into the studio to do his portraits.  But you know what…he totally rocked it and the crazy thing is he didn’t have to do a dang thing.  The kid is just photogenic and actually pretty natural in front of the camera.  It may have helped to have mom go around the corner for a coffee (Sorry you didn’t get to hang out Becky:-D) who knows?  Anyways, congrats Jake on your senior year, I hope you have an amazing time.

Stretching my legs with Cella Blue and Nisa Nicole

This was a shoot just to stretch my creative legs and to have a little fun.  We did the shoot a while back and I know I’m bad, but just getting around to blogging some of my favorites from the shoot.  Ok so here is the back story.  Cella Blue is the fabulous model here.  She is actually a very talented singer for the White Ghost Shivers based here in Austin.  If you ever get a chance to see them you must.  They are so much fun to see.  Anyways, Nisa (the fabulous make up artist) had met Cella a while back and really wanted to do a session with her.  Well the three of us collided at a networking event and made the magic happen (sorry that was a bit cheesy).  We were searching for places to shoot in downtown ATX and luckily wound up in The Velveeta Room right next to Esther’s Follies.  Mostly because the owners of Esther’s Follies knew who Cella was.  We had the whole room to ourselves.  Nisa did an AMAZING job with the makeup and Cella was so easy to work with…It was such a fun collaboration.  I can’t wait to do it again.  Check out Nisa’s site HERE.  If you ever need your makeup done for a special occasion give her a call.  Here are a few (of many) favorites from the shoot.
