Craig Davis :: studio563 bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

Hey there! My name is Craig Davis and I am a photographer from Houston, Texas. I absolutely love what I get to call my "job". I work with some of the coolest clients in the world and consider it a blessing to document special occasions and once of a lifetime moments in peoples lives. As the photographer for studio563 I get to "work" by capturing emotion.

April is my amazingly gorgeous wife as well as the best business partner that anyone could ever ask for. We have a beautiful little girl named Lexi, but you will hear her lovingly referred to as "The Wee One". We also have a little boy on the team as well. His name is Brock and we call him "ManChild". I am extremely blessed and I know that every good and perfect gift I have comes from my loving savior Jesus Christ. Without him nothing in this amazing life of mine would be possible.

I am so pumped about this post.  This shoot is was so much fun to direct, shoot, and edit.  I knew that when Jasmine said she wanted the whole 1940′s style and wanted to even dress the part that we were gonna have a great time and I knew just the place to make it happen.  As I began to think about processing these images I didnt have to think too long about how to do it.  I knew that Visual Supply Company’s VSCO Film was the perfect tool for the job.  I got to work immediately and was elated with my first experience with this new tool.  This shoot is not my typical shoot and not the way most of my finished edits look, but it definitely called for the period treatment that I was able to get with my new favorite tool.  So without further adieu check out Jasmine and Myles.

This might be my favorite image.  Just pretty freakin cool.

I dig this shot too.

Melanie & Ryan :: the Wedding :: Hotel Derek Houston, Tx

Last month I had the privilege of shooting Melanie and Ryan’s wedding at Hotel Derek.  These guys are geniuses.  He is literally a brain surgeon! they were great to work with and have just the absolute best spirits.  Truly the kind of people that make us photographers enjoy our jobs.  Samantha Darr with SoireeBliss ran the show that night and did a great job.  Here are a few of my favorites from the evening.  Check em out!

So since the event is over we can post these beautiful pics from her bridal session. Her wedding and bridal session where at the Hotel Derek. Darryl & Co. Open House

Many of you have been going to bridal shows to get ideas, but my guess is that you’ve felt those shows were lacking. You may have even felt frustrated about your time spent there. Now you’ve gone back to your Pinterest Boards to search for the right ideas, and are left to hope you will be able to find the right vendors to pull them off.  On January 28th I attended an open house event hosted by Darryl & Co.  This open house was like no other!!! Every single bride was blown away with the creativity and ability to really experience what their own wedding could be like. The rooms were beautifully decorated with just the right amount of lighting to showcase the creative designs and a soft sweet smell of fresh florals filled the air.  It was very difficult not to have visual option anxiety. I discovered  that every corner I turned gifted me with a new idea and inspiration. Many brides stopped by our table praising Darryl’s designs.  They loved how wonderful it was to come to an event that had such class and creativity.

No doubt Darryl has always been a leader in our market, but now he has changed the way brides are able to experience his work. It was gorgeous and his team  has given brides and coordinators around the world a wonderful opportunity to see his beautiful work. We were honored to have been a part of that day.  Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!!!!!  Well done Darryl & Co.

Marian & Austin :: Wedding at Briscoe Manor :: Richmond, Tx

Now our “blogstalkers” will remember this couple from their engagement session we shot last fall. This is the wedding of the beautiful Maid Marian and her Knight in shining armor Austin. We met them in the Fall of 2010 and we instantly clicked. You have been an absolute dream to work with and we have loved getting to know you both. Now planning a wedding can be very frustrating due to the fact that you are overwhelmed with options and decisions. Well my hat is off to you Marian and Austin you chose wisely. The event was gorgeous and you had fun!!!!!!! I can’t wait for everyone to see this post…

Ahhhhh the infamous Jimmy Choo need we say more? Thank you Carrie, from Sex in the City, for bringing him into our world.

The flowers were done by the very talented Lisa Tran with Wedding Flowers By Lisa (Blooming Gallery). She does beautiful work with very full floral bouquets.

I have 2 favorite moments in their ceremony: when he  looked at her and when they prayed. Now ladies a man does not have to cry at the alter for him to be blown away. I can almost feel his heart skip a beat when he sees her in this image. When they prayed together it had such a calming effect on the mood of this image. I also love the way he is holding her hands…confident yet gentle.

Boys will be boys and that is just fun to be in a photo-booth.

Craig had an amazing time shooting your wedding and I have loved working with you. Thank you so much for listening to your “gut” and letting us be part of your wonderful day.
