What a way to end 2008. Brooks and Kathy’s wedding was such a blast. These guys were all about having a great time and that is exactly what we did. Barbara Hearne did such a kick@#$@ job coordinating. Everything was perfect. Follow that up with lighting by Ilios and a little Blind Date on stage and you have yourself a little party. Rozalyn and Michael – Barr Mansion

I had the privilege of photographing Michael and Rozalyn’s wedding out at Barr Mansion. I had never shot there before and it was such a great place to shoot – it had a nice country feel and was very intimate. Resha with 36th street events did such an amazing job with the coordination of the entire wedding. *HERE IS THEIR SHOW*

The Payne Crew

Chip was in town to shoot a wedding with the studio last week and we headed out for a quick family session with the Payne crew. Tom and Daisy are both teachers and I love hanging out with my teachers so we had a blast. Chip got me throwing down some tricks of the dad trade.

I headed out to the express filed to photograph Lauren and Jordan and their crew:) it was a blast. I have always wanted to shoot at the ballpark and it didn’t disappoint. We even had to brek out of the joint at the end of the shoot. Thanks for the fun guys.

We did some Santa image in our neighborhood this past weekend. Proceeds went to the Brown Santa Program. Santa was amazing – I love the top image, this boy brought his list and hung out while Santa read through it.

Lessons of a life

Below are my grandparent, Hazel and “Pete” as he was know to everybody. They were married for over 65 years up until this past week, when my grandfather passed away. They lived in Paradise (really – Paradise, CA) He was an amazing individual; a member of the greatest generation that forged this amazing country.

He lived through 17 presidents, was a generation off the civil war, saw both world wars, the roaring 20′s, the great depression, the introduction of the automobile, air travel, communism, the right for women to vote, prohibition and civil rights.

Alive during the times of Rockefeller, Carnegie, J.P Morgan, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, FDR, Hitler, Mussolini, Churchill.

Saw the start of the NFL. Babe Ruth hit 60. Jesse Owens in Berlin. Joe Louis versus Max Schmeling. Gehrig start the streak and Ripkin pass it.

I certainly could write tons more about my grandpa and may well do so in the future for my kids. A few of my favorite memories and random lessons with my grandpa, some may make sense only to my brothers. . .

Don’t take yourself too seriously (hence the pictures of my grandparents) – life can be awfully cruel but you will survive.

Make homemade ice cream. Ditto to walking in the morning and picking berries.

Skip rocks when you get a chance.

Yellow squash is much better when you grow it yourself.

Stock your pantry – that box of cereal you don’t even like may never go on sale again:) Ditto with TP.

My grandparents were married for over 65 years and made it through very tough times. That is the greatest lesson I learned from both of them. I’m sure they had their moments:) I heard a pastor once say that you make a choice every morning when you wake up to love each other. They had 23,750.
